Fast and Furious 6 and 7 will be shot Back-to-Back
Returning to the franchise that started his career, Ratner says the movies will be shot back to back. "Yea we're shooting them together" he says. "It just makes more sense. You're spending $200 million on essentially one long shoot instead of $150 million twice on two shorter shoots." He also said the script that David Ayer (who returns to the franchise for the first time since co-writing the original 2001 film with Gary Scott Thompson), Chris Morgan, and Justin Lin are putting together is so large, that the sixth film had to be split into two films. "The characters that are returning combined with the ones we are bringing back from the past all adds to so much backstory and depth, we had to let it breathe. That on top of the action set pieces and races, it was all just too much for one movie. The studio said we had to split it up." Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Sung Kang will all return. And as the final scene in Fast 5 hinted, Eva Mendes and Michelle Rodriguez will also appear. Justin Lin is directing once again.
